Libby the Librarian's Book Shortage Contest

Libby the Librarian needs more books!

Libby the Librarian is in charge of the Murb City Library (MCL). While they have a lot of books in their library, the monsters living in Murb are always looking for more books. So, this is where you can help Libby.

You need to:

  • Write a story containing one or more of the monsters in Murb.
  • Feel free to include pictures, but pictures are not required.
  • Each story needs to be at least 3 paragraphs long.
  • Stories will be grouped into categories before judging.
  • Story entries should be emailed to libby@fun4thebrain.com.

Winners will have their stories posted online at Fun4theBrain.com so everyone can read their exciting tales. Winners will be chosen each month. At the end of the first week of each month, the winners will be announced and posted. Their stories will also appear in the Murb City Library once it's construction is complete. Winners will be chosen from each category listed below:

  • Category 1: Kindergarten
  • Category 2: First and Second Grade
  • Category 3: Third and Fourth Grade
  • Category 4: Fifth and Sixth Grade
  • Category 5: 7th Grade and older (including adults)

Be sure to take some time to create a fun story!

Tips and Tricks:
When writing a story, always be sure to ask yourself lots of questions. Instead of just writing, "Zizi walked into the diner." It could, instead, say, "Zizi walked through the sliding door of the diner and immediately smelled the cookies that Chubz was baking." Or something along those lines. What does your character hear? What do they smell? What do they see? Answering those questions will help the readers picture what your story better.

Parent & Teachers: Do you have more tips, tricks, or links you would like to share to help the kids with their creative writing? Send me an email at libby@fun4thebrain, and I will add them to the list.
